Cycle & Change is poetry spun into folk music — a journey through the life cycle of a year, drawing on themes of nature, the light and dark of the seasons, and the transformations that shape us. Written over the last decade, the album reflects on life changes brought on by the pandemic and isolation, friendship, the death of a grandparent, Roe vs. Wade, queerness, and gardening. Recorded in an old church in West Springfield at Ghost Hit Recording, as autumn leaves fell over the tombstones, this album is a tender, spiritual work — an offering that fully embraces Naomi’s identity as a songwriter and a witch.
Naomi Westwater (they/she) is a queer, Black-multiracial singer-songwriter from Massachusetts. Their work combines folk-rock music, poetry, and spirituality.
