About the event
Born in the Philippines in the final years of the Marcos regime, Jill is an ex-undocumented writer, filmmaker, and the author of DIRTY KITCHEN, a memoir of Filipino food, family, history, and growing up undocumented in America. A graduate of the University of Cambridge, Jill's film and writing work has appeared in the BBC, DOC NYC, TIME, The New York Times, The Nation, The Margins, and Electric Lit. Raised in the United States and now a British citizen, Jill lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Saeed Jones is the author of the memoir HOW WE FIGHT FOR OUR LIVES (Simon & Schuster), winner of the 2019 Kirkus Prize for Nonfiction and the poetry collection PRELUDE TO BRUISE (Coffee House Books), winner for the 2015 PEN/Joyce Osterweil Award for Poetry.
